A Little About Us...
- Preston Photographic Club has been around since 1948.
We are a group of amateur photographers of different age groups, occupations
and skill levels from different suburbs, simply wanting to learn to take
better photographs and encourage a higher standard of photography in the
Preston area.
- You are welcome to join us. If you want to take better photos, meet other people, attend monthly photographic outings or get ideas and learn from our guest lecturers and judges, visit us!
- We meet at the Preston Municipal Library Annexe at 266 Gower Street, Preston (Melway reference Map 18, G12). The meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month (except January), commencing at 7.30 p.m. for approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours.
- We hold displays of our work in the Reservoir Library, Ralph St. during the first half of each year. We have a small library of books available for loan by members.
- If you'd like to become a member and enter into competition... Great!

A Little Of Our History...
Preston Photographic Club was formed as the result of a meeting in a private house on 1st September, 1948. Nine people attended the meeting.
A second meeting was held on 14th September when the decision was taken to form the "Pictorial Photographic Club". Mr Stan Long was the first President, and Reg Gray the first Secretary.
The name was changed to "Preston Photographic Club" in 1951.Meetings have been conducted at a number of venues over the years, and the club has been at its present address for about fifteen years.
During its existence, membership peaked at 48 in 1958. Current membership is stable in the mid twenties.
Club members believe that Preston is the third oldest photographic club in the state, behind Melbourne and Ballarat.
Members will be celebrating our 60th anniversary with a dinner dance on October 18.
