A Little Of Our History...

Preston Photographic Club was formed as the result of a meeting in a private house on 1st September, 1948. Nine people attended the meeting.

A second meeting was held on 14th September when the decision was taken to form the "Pictorial Photographic Club". Mr Stan Long was the first President, and Reg Gray the first Secretary.

The name was changed to "Preston Photographic Club" in 1951.

Meetings have been conducted at a number of venues over the years, and the club has been at its present address for about fifteen years.

During its existence, membership peaked at 48 in 1958. Current membership is stable in the mid twenties.

Club members believe that Preston is the third oldest photographic club in the state, behind Melbourne and Ballarat.

Members will be celebrating our 60th anniversary with a dinner dance on October 18.
